English School of Canada’s English for Academic Purposes (UCTP) is designed for students with an academic English focus that have the ultimate goal of attending a university or college in Canada. This is an advanced level program and focuses on providing students with the academic English skills necessary to succeed at the university/college level. This program has been specifically designed to include the following skills and topics with the goal of improving academic English proficiency:
ELT has designed as an all-in-one program that focuses on many different skill groups for the beginning level students. We focus on listening, vocabulary, grammatical structures, pronunciation and speaking clarity.

Focus on Speaking Program (FOS)
This program is designed for students interested in improving their ability to speak and communicate in the English language. Students will improve their linguistic and strategic conversational skills, while at the same time improving their pronunciation. Students also learn about North American culture and social customs to assist them in learning how and when to say the right thing.
This program can be taken as a part-time program for 15 hours a week or as a full-time program for 22.5 or 30 hours a week. As a full-time program it can be combined with any other class depending on the student’s learning needs.
Focus on Writing
The Focus on Writing Program is a 12-week program and will consist of 3 classes daily. The first class focuses on undestanding and effectively using vocabulary (including collocations, idioms, registers, discourse and formality). The second class will concentrate on the structure, mechanics, style and tone of sentences. Finally, the third class will illuminate how to write various academic, business, professional and functional compositions.
In addition to these practical objectives, this class will show students how to put themselves in the correct mindset to write, how to plan to write as well as how to implement editing and revision strategies. Creativity, flexibility and risk-taking will also be emphasized.
Summer Teen Program
Our Summer Junior Program (12-17 years of age) combines structured ESL instruction with a variety of exciting and educational trips and excursions! The program takes place at the University of Toronto – the largest university in Canada. The campus is located in the center of downtown, and is close to trendy shopping districts, world-class restaurants, and beautiful parks. Residence life gives the students the opportunity to live together with other students from around the world – enjoying more independance, plus the chance to make new friends!
Intensive General English Program
General English Programs are for all students from beginner to high advanced levels, and this is the best way to start studying in Canada.
One and Only Methodology
Our intensive ESL program has ten levels that range from beginner to intermediate to advanced classes. Students will take classes that focus on different English language skills such as reading, listening, grammar and communication. As students improve theri level they can take otehr language skills such as pronunciation, conversation or writing.
Integrated Skills: Develops students abilities to extract information from reading/listening materials and to integrate that information through speaking/writing tasks ability to communicate meaningfully with other speakers based on discourse and text.
Communicative Grammar: Follows a communicative approach, bridging the gap between knowing English grammar and using it.
Communication: Communications is a Theme-Based Class designed to teach students the characteristics of native-speakers communication, enabling communicate in an open-ended and natural way.
Pronunciation: This class is designed for students who wish to sound just like English speakers. By focusing on minimal pairsand reduced forms, students learn to identify English sounds and produce them. The course also focuses on word stress as well as sentence stress. This course allows any learner to enter a conversation speaking with clarity and confident in his or her ability to comprend.
Introduction to Writing: In this class, students learn the fundamentals of writing. By familiarizing students with parts of speech, sentence structure and context, this class provides students with a solid foundation in understanding how writing is different from and more demanding than other forms of fluency, and it prepares them for succcess in intermediate and even advanced writing classes.
Intermediate Functional Writing: This class allows students to successfully produce practical and functional pieces of writing related to many everyday situations. On finishing the course, students are able to use the appropriate register, vocabulary and grammar in coherent paragraphs, and formal and informal letters and emails. Students are shown how to work independently when brainstorming, outlining and writing, and they are taught how to identify and correct the errors in their own writing in a self-reliant manner.
Basic Academic Skills of English: This demanding class provides students with the basic skills they need to succeed in college or university. Firstly, students learn about spelling patterns and commonly misspelled words. The course then moves on to cover basic reading, listening and writing skills. Throughout the course, students are taught excellent habits and the ability to think critically, both of which are necessary to succeed in any higher education program.
Business Communication: This class assists students planning to work for an international company. It guides students through the job hunting process by giving them the language skills to understand job advertisements, create a professional online presence, write an outstanding resume, and perform excellently in a jon interview. Students are also taught language and communication strategies to survive in a variety of everyday business situations.
